1. FergusFGS · AI AssistantJan 2025 – Present

   • Building an AI assistant platform for research consultants in Next.js, using Assistant-UI for the chat interface and Mastra on the backend for threads, agent selection, and streamed tool calls.
   • Focused on frontend integration of streamed tool-call responses and real-time visualisations of structured outputs.
   • Contributed to a collaborative workspace feature for organising and sharing research workflows, while shaping a scalable frontend architecture as more agent capabilities are added.

2. Reputation IQFGS · Reputation-tracking platformOct 2023 – Dec 2024

   • Key frontend developer on a Next.js/TypeScript reputation-tracking platform that gave internal stakeholders and external research consultants insight into how organisations were perceived.
   • Built bespoke dynamic chart components to visualise Looker/LookML data, and reusable React components for the Looker Marketplace so research teams could embed visualisations in their workflows.
   • Established a scalable, modular frontend architecture that balanced performance with ease of integration.

   • Main developer for an AI-focused event website showing schedules, background, and further reading for Unilever internal stakeholders.
   • Built with Next.js, TypeScript, SCSS, and Dato CMS, translating Figma designs into React components.
   • Added a Stable Diffusion prompt-builder interface where delegates could select attributes to generate images dynamically.

4. New Digital HomeJägermeister · Global website + ShopifyJun 2022 – May 2023

   • Part of a six-developer team rebuilding Jägermeister’s global site to add direct-to-consumer Shopify sales.
   • Built React components from an atomic Figma design system in Storybook, implemented navigation, login/registration forms, CMS content models, semantic versioning in CI/CD, and GTM/JSON-LD configuration.
   • Wrote GraphQL queries, adapters, and resolvers to fetch and shape data efficiently from Contentful and Shopify.

   • Consulted AKQA Berlin’s design team on frontend issues for Occhio’s new website, which was implemented by the client’s incumbent dev team.
   • Advised on image optimisation, video quality expectations, and font implementation so designs survived the build.

   • Main developer maintaining Jägermeister’s React/Express/Contentful website across multiple markets.
   • Tweaked class-based React components, built new components and content models, supported content creators during campaigns, managed redirects in Azure, and configured Google Analytics.

   • Part of a three-developer team building a Next.js/DatoCMS website for an internal AKQA NFT project connecting established and emerging digital artists.
   • Built React components and integrated MetaMask wallet login so users could receive NFT tokens for the raffle.

   • Part of a twelve-developer team that built a React component library from Figma designs, published privately on NPM and consumed by a separate Next.js UI repository.
   • Used Storybook for isolated component previews, GraphQL with Hygraph (formerly GraphCMS) for data, Tailwind with Styled Components for styling, and Algolia for search.
   • Owned banners, site map, cookie banner, GTM tracking, CMS content models, and more.

   • Devised an automated process to monitor and improve content health across 500,000+ legal and tax articles, covering broken links and content currency.
   • Wrote Python scripts with Pandas, NumPy, and Beautiful Soup to process daily CSV metadata into statistics that powered internal dashboards with timelines and charts.
   • Automated summary email reports to content teams, leading to a significant drop in customer complaints about stale or broken content.

    • Created a Chrome extension in vanilla JavaScript that lets Lexis researchers search Lexis content directly from any external webpage, displaying results in a sidebar.
    • Took the extension through to publication in the Chrome Web Store.

    • Built a Vue.js app that sits inside the Arbortext XML editor, letting content creators search and copy reusable legal clauses without leaving their workflow.
    • Backed by a daily Python script that harvests relevant clauses from the content set.

Hi, I'm Dan

I'm a frontend developer and design engineer with a passion for creating interfaces that are fast, accessible, and genuinely useful. With a strong background in Next.js, React, and TypeScript, I've built enterprise-level websites and web applications for global brands like Jägermeister, Dr. Oetker, and Occhio, as well as AI-powered platforms that bring complex agent interactions to life.

My work ranges from polished small business websites and scalable design systems to real-time dashboards, data visualisations, and LLM-powered tools. Whether I'm refining typography, architecting a component library, or wiring up streamed tool-call responses, I care about the same things: clarity, performance, and making the end result feel effortless for the people using it.

A native English speaker with conversational Spanish, I run Hutchida as a small studio from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. I'm always interested in collaborations, so feel free to get in touch.
